Chiropractors and Chiropractic Care

Chiropractic is an alternative and complementary natural healthcare that is interested in the study and diagnosis of muscular disorders of the nervous system, particularly the spine. Chiropractors perform various spinal manipulation and manual therapy and usually refer patients to physical therapists. There are two major categories of chiropractors: certified and non-certified.

Chiropractors are generally licensed by the Department of Health to practice in the state that they are trained to do so. The State of Florida recognizes only two types of chiropractors, certified and non-certified, however there are other states that have different standards for chiropractors’ training. A chiropractor may be licensed in any state that allows chiropractors to practice. The licensing exams for chiropractors are conducted by the National Certification Board for Chiropractors (NCCA), which also accredits chiropractic colleges.

Certified chiropractors undergo a specific curriculum and undergo extensive training before they can be considered competent and licensed in chiropractic care. The course will cover anatomy and physiology of the spine, the history of chiropractic, diagnostic procedures, basic therapeutic techniques and the application of those techniques to the patient. In order to become a certified chiropractor, one must pass a written examination, a mental status exam, and a physical exam.

On the other hand, non-certified chiropractor who want to take part in the medical field need not take any formal course to become a chiropractor, but he or she should have a medical degree that is accredited by the American College of Chiropractic. One of the many ways to obtain a medical degree is by taking a course that would teach you medical terminology and theories and at the same time teaching you some practical skills, such as knowledge on how to analyze a patient’s health and provide chiropractic care to patients.

Chiropractors can refer their patients to doctors for additional care. There are many doctors who agree to accept chiropractors’ referrals, as they are known for their good relationship with patients and they are familiar with them and the specific problems that they deal with in their clinic. There are certain types of doctors who do not allow chiropractors to give referrals but there are also doctors who allow them to give referrals and are willing to give referrals to their patients.

Chiropractors are also trained in other methods of care and are able to teach their patients on how to take care of their health by applying the proper techniques and methods in their everyday life. They have the expertise to help their patients deal with the pain and injuries caused by the body parts that are not working properly. They are also trained in using ultrasound and magnetic energy to treat conditions that can affect the spine and back. They are also trained in the use of spinal manipulation and can recommend other forms of treatment to alleviate pain and injuries caused by the back, neck areas.
